Happier than I expected…

Letting go of my role as an artist’s rep in 2012 made me happier than expected.   Representing artists was an unmatched experience that ultimately left me feeling less than fulfilled. The reasons for this change of heart are complex, so I will keep it short and to the point. REASON #1:  It makes me happy because I found that representing other artists, which I once used to love, was no longer satisfying that deepest creative part of myself. REASON #2:  After numerous years working to bring much needed attention to truly deserving artists, I realized that a rep cannot live on praise alone,…

Artist… a definition

Artist — a person of any age or gender, from any nation and every ethnicity, who expresses the highest and best within their own culture — as well as the least and the worst. An artist is an observer, a reporter, a synthesizer, an innovator, an educator, and an interpreter. Most important: an artist is endlessly curious, never stops learning, is in a constant state of experimentation, and is continually evolving.     This is true for life so you might as well make the most of it.

Every day is an opportunity to evaluate and refine your mission. Based on our successes in the past year, and my nearly total immersion in this endeavor, I’ve realized that the timing is perfect to reassess and redefine  focus, direction, and presentation. A lesson in life, no matter what your focus: if you’re not fulfilling your best and highest purpose, you can change it. It will take work, but that work will reap big rewards.
